Welcome back ladies and gentlemen of the internet. Let's just get right into it. What is a cinephile? It means someone who is fond of cinema, but we all know it means much more than that. The typical Chad who's watching Marvel and action movies isn't a cinephile, obviously. What about the Karen watching her weekly dose of cringy rom coms where the movie ends with a nice, neat bow on top, just how the audience wanted it to be? Probably not. What about the Oscar winning movies that are feining to impress, but fall just short of beguiling a true cinephile? When you see a really well-made film that deserves that Janus logo and to be put in the infamous Criterion Collection, you know it. It doesn't even mean that you necessarily liked the film, but that it holds itself to a different standard than others. 

It's not just deep, it's innovative, it's unique, creative, it pushes boundaries that society tries to keep us in. So for all the educated, snobby, and pretentious cinephiles out there, enjoy these stills from some of the greats.
